La newsletter di Politico.eu sul premio Ischia, spedita a migliaia di indirizzi

Dear readers,

We were honored this week to receive the Ischia International Journalism Award, one of the most important Italian prizes for journalism.

When we began POLITICO Europe 10 years ago, we were convinced there was space in Brussels for our kind of fast-paced journalism that lifts the curtain of what really drives conversations among professional politicos and that launched our publication in Washington. It is such a joy to see that labor of love recognized, and especially now amid a rupturing of the transatlantic relationship when the need for deeply-reported, reliable journalism has never felt greater. Huge thanks to Chair Giampiero Massolo and his excellent jury.

Europe’s leaders, of course, spent much of the week debating how to get to new defense spending target of 5 percent of GDP by 2035, at a NATO summit in the The Hague, and then discussing trade at a European Council summit in Brussels. “Money alone won’t solve our problems,” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz told reporters, a point leaders seemed more and more determined to underline as the week went on.

Plenty of highlights below to keep you busy this weekend.

I’d also highly recommend our excellent package covering everything you need to know ahead of Denmark’s presidency of the European Union which starts in July. Don’t ever say we don’t spoil you with plenty to swot up on while you sunning yourself at the beach.

Have an excellent weekend,

Kate Day
